Membership Information
Annual membership dues are $5 for individuals and $10 for families; lifetime memberships are available for individuals at $50 and families at $75. Dues can be paid online or click here to download the application. The annual membership period begins on January 1 of each year. Membership dues support an Annual Photography Contest, a student Writing Contest and scholarship program in conjunction with the Hauppauge School District, and more.

The Friends of the Hauppauge Public Library (Friends) is an organization that works to promote, support, advocate for and further the goals of the Hauppauge Public Library.
How do the Friends accomplish their goals?
The Friends work closely with the Hauppauge Public Library in a variety of ways. The Friends raise funds to be used to support its mission through memberships fees, donations and fundraisers. Members volunteer their time and talents at meetings and various programs and events.
What kind of programs and events do the Friends sponsor?
The Friends currently sponsor an annual writing contest for our Hauppauge school students, an annual community photography contest, an annual library staff appreciation luncheon, and college scholarships. They are actively seeking additional ways to add value to the Library experience.
How can I join The Friends of the Hauppauge Public Library?
You can join the Friends by using our online form or by filling out a membership form and returning it along with your dues to the Hauppauge Public Library’s Guest Services Desk.
How much does it cost to join The Friends?
An individual memberships are $5 per year; family membership are $10 per year. Lifetime memberships are also available for $50 per individual or $75 per family. The membership year runs from January 1 through December 31.
What do I get for my membership?
Besides supporting a good cause, your Friends membership will enable you to participate in the governance of the Friends organization and will offer you timely updates and listings of Friends events and meetings. With COVID-19 restrictions lifted, the Friends will resume and expand its meeting schedule, bi-monthly beginning January 2023 both in person and virtual.
How can I become more involved in the Friends?
The Friends are always looking for people who are willing to share their time and talent with the organization and with the Hauppauge community at large. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer in any capacity or if you have a skill, talent or interest that you would be willing to put to use – for example, Facebook/other social media skills, website development and brainstorming ways to persuade neighborhood non-users to become library users.

May I attend a Friends meeting?
Yes. Friends meetings are open to everyone, both in person and virtually.
Where else can I get information about the Friends?
The Friends prepare periodic informational memos that are sent to members via email and facebook and are available from staff at the front desk of the library. The library staff is well informed about Friends meetings and events and they will be able to answer many of your questions.
