Get one-on-one assistance from expert library staff and/or volunteers. We will help you with your mobile devices, learn new skills, start your research, have your taxes prepared, and more.

Choose the appointment type that best suits your needs from the options below. From there, you will be able to view our calendar of available times. Then, select the time that works best for you, fill out the form, and your appointment will be confirmed. *If you are requesting a technology tutor appointment, we will contact you to schedule it to ensure you are matched with someone who has the skills you are looking to learn.

What are AARP Tax-Aide Appointments?

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides tax assistance to anyone, free of charge, with a focus on taxpayers who are over 50 and have low to moderate income. You don’t need to be an AARP member to use the service. Hauppauge Public Library is usually an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide prep site. Appointments at the library can be made in person, on our website, or by phone during tax season. What Notary Services do you offer?

Notary services are offered by appointment during regular library hours. 

The library does not charge a fee for this service.

Limit of 10 notarizations per day.

Notary service is not available for deeds and other real estate documents, wills, living wills, trusts, powers of attorney, depositions, and documents in any language other than English.

What are Medicare Counseling (HIICAP) appointments?

A 30-minute appointment to meet with a Suffolk County RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) representative from HIICAP (Health Insurance Information, Counseling & Assistance Program). They will answer questions and provide information specific to your own needs regarding Medicare health insurance and benefits, Medicare Savings Programs, and EPIC. 

Appointments are usually offered once a month on the second Monday.

What are Technology Tutor appointments?

Get one-on-one computer help with expert library staff. Appointments are up to one hour long. Staff will work with you to develop the computer skills you need.

Learn the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, downloading e-books and other electronic media, database searching, or internet use on our computers.

Ask about how we can help you with your mobile devices too.

Instruction will be at an introductory level.

Please check in at the Guest Services desk. A staff member there will direct you to your appointment location.
